David’s journey is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Starting as a waiter in 2015, he brought with him a background in graphic design – but an unexpected twist in his career path led him to Artcaffé. Despite the initial disparity between his passion and profession, David embraced the opportunity to prove himself.
“It has been tough, but I did not want to give up. I thought graphic design would take me to the furthest point in my career, but things changed... it’s been 8, going 9 years, and now I feel like I’m where I belong.”
His journey is characterised by a steadfast commitment to 3 core principles: hard work, discipline, and patience, which he credits for transforming him into a person able to weather any storm. David
believes wholeheartedly in working with determination and confidence. His strength of character has enabled him to rise through the ranks, and even when he was constantly being transferred, working as far as Kitengela where he’d travel 80km every day. David remained persistent.
“If I put my mind to something, I can achieve more than I anticipated. It’s all about your state of mind. Whatever you believe you can conquer, you will,” he tells me. The biggest struggle he has overcome is time management. He prides himself in never having been late for work in all these years. “As soon as my alarm goes off, I go off. Just stick your legs out of the bed, and you’ll train your mind to waking up without snoozing.”
Embracing his unique personality, David encourages others to do the same, recognising the value of diverse perspectives
in fostering personal and professional growth. David fits perfectly in the busy atmosphere of Britam Towers, serving a corporate clientele and hosting exceptional events like the weekly Kizomba classes. His mindset and determination give him the grit required to keep succeeding.
