For Ben, as he is best known, the allure of the hospitality industry lies in its ability to foster human connections. Joining Artcaffé as a steward in 2014, he embarked on a journey driven by a deep-seated passion for service. Today, he leads a team of 96 people as the manager at Rhapta Square, one of Artcaffé’s busiest locations, servicing a clientele of families and corporate patrons. In his role, Ben prioritises training and mentoring for all his staff and ensures smooth sailing for all operations, leading his vast team with an infectious smile.


He fondly looks back at the beginning of his career, where he was guided by mentors through inspirational stories, and was fuelled by the invaluable feedback of his regular customers. Ben took it upon himself to reach out to customers, encouraging them to dine in or get their favourite food delivered to them. This personalised approach has enabled him to form connections with diverse people and has taught him the value of integrity, which he holds dearly, and which he instils into his training and mentorship programme with his entire team.


His commitment to fostering connections extends beyond the professional realm, as he views his colleagues as an extension of his family.


“We spend most of our day together, so this is like my first home,” Ben reflects. “It is important that my colleagues in the branch stay motivated.”


A polite and gentle personality, Ben believes he still has a lot of growth to do and looks to the future optimistically. His dedication to his customers and his desire to provide them with the best possible experience fits perfectly at the Rhapta Square branch, where he can truly be a part of the community he loves so much.
