OUR BAKERY

At the heart of Artcaffé is our central bakery, where the craft of traditional baking is celebrated daily. Using only natural local ingredients we bake thousands of artisanal loaves of bread each day, free from additives or preservatives. Our bread’s unique character comes from age-old methods like natural fermentation and stone ovens, giving it that signature golden crust and nourishing flavour. Our 15-year-old sourdough starter is a testament to our dedication to quality and patience. Each loaf tells a story of care, tradition and the art of true baking.

Natural fermentation with levain, a sourdough starter, enhances our bread’s flavour and texture. This careful process slowly breaks down gluten and yields bread that is healthier and a true testament to the art of baking. Our sourdough varieties use a 15-year-old starter that has been maintained since the beginning of our operations. The multiple steps and patience in resting the dough contribute to the long fermentation that gives Artcaffe bread its iconic taste and nutritional benefits, and it’s no surprise that our specialty loaves like 100% rye, American sourdough and cereal bread are always in demand.

We also take pride in our range of delightful baked goods and some of the finest cakes in the city. Our standout salted caramel cake boasts layers of moist dark chocolate and rich, gooey salted caramel. Meanwhile, our white chocolate rose cake, inspired by the flowers at our market, features a vanilla sponge layered with white chocolate cream ganache and topped with piped cream roses. Our croissants are best sellers – buttery, perfectly flaky and packed with flavour. Pop by for a grab-and-go, or slow down, grab your laptop and sit for a while with your croissant and coffee.
